1. Where are you from?
Dallas, Texas
2. How has moving from Texas to California influenced your design?
I have always been inspired by Texas style, specifically the 80’s Texas glam look. I grew up going to camp starting when I was 8 over in Lake of The Ozarks, Missouri. It was there that I was so inspired by the cabin/tent vibes. Northern California brings me back to these memories and merging both Camp and the Texas aesthetic is the foundation to The 2 Bandits brand.
3. Is there a person or thing that has most inspired you in your design?
Grandpa JJ. The brand is more of an idea/vibe. When I’m designing, I imagine myself or anyone on my grandfathers farm in ripped jeans and a white t with amazing jewelry that fit the farm chic look…and catching fireflies in mason jars, of course!
4. Moving forward with The 2 Bandits how do you continue to inspire yourself?
I’m inspired by literally everything from garage doors to Joni Mitchell songs…it’s never ending and so exciting.
5. Where did the name The 2 Bandits orginate from?
Every time I get off the plane in Texas, my mom always thinks I look like a mess. She always says “I’m gona clean you up like a Bandit.” She uses the word Bandit in so many ways. When I’m being bad she’ll say, “you Bandit, you.” Why 2? There is always someone else helping you in life. My top Bandits are my mom, dad, grandfather, and of course, my dog, Rigby.
6. If you could pass along something you’ve learned along the way to me what would it be?
When you don’t get something, whatever it is, turned down, bad feedback…move on to the next, it’s part of life.
