Morning commuters on Valentine’s Day in Greenpoint were greeted by a group of Anti-Trump Feminists handing out love letters. The organizers passed out heart-shaped postcards pre-addressed to NYS Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (who has demonstrated strong opposition to Trump’s cabinet appointees), Planned Parenthood, and a local mosque, giving commuters an opportunity to select and write their own loving messages. Organizers also passed out the phone numbers of NYS representatives, in hopes that commuters will make calls to voice their concerns at this crucial time.
“We want to offer our neighbors and community support during this tumultuous and uncertain time. It’s important for people who are engaged with resisting the new administration to know that they are not alone. Making face to face connections with others will help build us continue
to build morale. We hope it energizes people and helps them feel part of the larger movement
happening all over our country.” – Sharon Kim, Organizer.
